So these are some sketchbooks I have designed as part of my Color Book in my Color Workshop class. At the end of the book there has to be something that the book is promoting or selling. My book is on the color green and the theme of green in my book is sustainability. So the product I decided to come up with is a product that is sustainable. By being sustainable I mean that many parts of the product were made by reusing items, although there are some items that have previously been recycled, the idea of my product is to come up with cool ideas to give new life to old stuff! Recycling is great, of course it is better than just throwing something out, but before we recycle something we should think of how we can use it just once more and this is where the sketchbook idea came from. Below is a picture of two of the sketchbooks I made. They are made with a pattern that came out of this Green Book investigation and design, the cover paper on which the pattern is stamped on is old italian newspaper, the stamp that was used was made by carving a potato (potatoes and exacto knives can make awesome stamps!), the hardcover is made out of old pieces of cardboard that came from cereal boxes, pasta boxes, etc. the paper inside is a recycled paper that is made in a factory that uses mostly wind power energy and the binding is sewed using hemp, a biodegradable, very eco-friendly material. Check them out :)
